Dramione song recs: Katnips - The Hanging Tree interpretation
Are you, are you. Coming to the tree
Where I told you to run so we’d both be free.

Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.

The tree had become used to their presense over the last few weeks, and barely even flicked a branch in their direction when they arrived. Such a reaction to people hadn’t been seen from the tree in hundreds of years, or at least that was what Hermione had found out after researching it. The idea of it made her feel special, like the tree had a tolerence for the two of them, and only them. On the other hand, Draco still didn’t trust a single piece of bark on the damn thing. Insisting on several occasions that it would just decide it didn’t like them one day, which was why he refused to sleep in it’s shade. Letting the witch lounge on his lap none the less, because it was becoming increasingly difficult to say no to her and he actually enjoyed watching her sleep. She looked at peace, and he liked that. “We could do it, you know.” Draco stated one chilly evening as he stared up at the dark sky over head, Hermione resting on his chest.

“Do what?” The witch tilted her head to gaze at him, lips curved into a small smile. This wasn’t the first time he’d said such a thing, but she knew what he meant and decided to pretend otherwise. “Run away.” A breeze rolled over them and Draco tightened his arm around her in attempts to keep her warm. Hermione let out a quiet laugh at the suggestion, not seeing the point of it anymore. “People know about us now, why would we want to run away?” She twisted her body around to face him properly, resting an arm on his chest and placing her chin on it. The blonde stayed silent for a moment, lips pursed seriously. “They still judge us.” It was true, not a day had gone by since their relationship became public, that people didn’t stare at them critically as they walked by. Hermione frowned, having worried that might be what he was thinking. “It doesn’t matter what they think.” She insisted, leaning up and reaching a hand out to brush hair from his forehead. Draco knew that, but it was still difficult. He hated how people’s opinions of her had lessened, because of him. “Have you heard of that muggle play, Romeo and Juliette?” The blonde muttered, tilting his head back against the grass. Hermione’s brows furrowed as she nodded a reply, contemplating what exactly he brought it up for. Before she could say anything, he mumbled. “I like the ending.” As sinister as the ending was, the idea didn’t seem like a bad one. The witch’s eyes widened slightly, worry and fear beginning to build in her chest. “You want us to commit suicide? Draco that’s-” The blonde shifted himself onto his elbows abruptly, cutting her off. “No, of course not.” Faint laughter rumbled up his throat at her reaction. Once he was satisfied she was calm again, Draco let his head fall back. “I’m just saying, it’s an option.”

and if right is leaving, i’d rather be wrong
she is the sunlight and the sun is gone.
if loving her is heartache for me,
and if holding her means i have to bleed
then i am the martyr and love is to blame
she is the healing and i am the pain
she lives in a daydream where i don’t belong
she is the sunlight and the sun is gone
